Mr. HAMANO Koichi, the JPO Commissioner, delivered New Year Greetings, in which he listed some items that the JPO specifically addressed in 2022, for example:
1. Revisions to fees (increase) and control of expenditure at the JPO
2. Support for small and medium-sized companies and startups
3. Publication of the Green Transformation Technologies Inventory (GXTI)
4. Discussion of several topics for improving the Japanese IP system (Patents, Designs, and Trademarks)
5. Support for the development of IP systems in emerging and developing countries
Mr. Hamano closed his statement by saying that the JPO will continue to promote necessary measures in 2023 to ensure the quality of examination, improve user convenience, and support the global acquisition of rights.
