Action Plan for the Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology

On May 30, 2022, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) published the “Action Plan for the Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology” from FY2022 to FY2026.
The Action Plan aims to utilize AI technology in prior art searches for patents, designs, and trademarks.
For patent searches, a proof of concept (PoC) will be conducted in FY2022, and an agile development phase will begin in FY2023.
For designs and trademarks searches (other than character trademark searches), an agile development phase will begin in FY2022.
