Main Areas of Practice

Isao Saiki has been providing legal services in response to clients' needs in the fields mainly of corporate related laws.

Saiki also handles various litigations deriving from corporate legal matters, and has extensive experiences especially in the fields of intellectual property law and security related laws, for instance, lots of litigations in the fields of pharmaceutical products, biogenetics, semiconductor, displays, manufacturing machinery and car navigation system, as well as those under the Unfair Competition Prevention Act. In security related litigations, he represented defendant in a class action and other court proceedings against plaintiff aggrieved.

Furthermore, Saiki is well experienced in the field of business turnaround/insolvency. He has been constantly appointed by the Tokyo District Court as trustee in bankruptcy, a supervisor in corporate civil rehabilitation or a supervisor in personal bankruptcy matters. He also has ample experiences in corporate bankruptcy area as a deputy reorganization trustee in major corporate reorganization cases such as Maruko Inc., Chisan, Rinkai Nissan Construction, Japan Airlines. Further, he handled as the petitioner lots of large scale of corporate reorganization or civil rehabilitation cases, and especially in the Sogo Group's case that was considered to be the first large case under the newly introduced Civil Rehabilitation Law, he played a central role in the proceedings of civil rehabilitation petition.

Saiki's has further expanded his practice area and is assisting corporations with setting up compliance systems, serving as an outside auditor for listed companies, and writing articles on compliance. For 7 years from 2003, he was a lecturer of a compulsory subject which the Japan Patent Attorneys Association requires patent attorneys to study before they sit for the exams to become "Fuki-Benrishi" who is qualified to appear at the courts in intellectual property related litigations as a co-representative with an attorney at law.
